Our rooftop becomes an Alpine peak

From 16 October to 31 December, Le Chalet d’Altitude reopens on the VIAGE rooftop. This edition takes you to the top of the Swiss Alps.
Le Chalet d’Altitude is a mountain break high above the city. Together with Switzerland Tourism, we’re turning the roof above Boulevard Anspach into an Alpine hut. Warm wood and vintage mountain gear give you a glimpse of a Swiss winter. Think of the warm glow you feel after a walk through fresh snow, or of sitting in a cosy train compartment as it winds between snow-capped peaks.
“I need torrents, rocks, fir trees, dark woods, mountains, rugged paths to climb up and down.” – Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Les Confessions
Below you, the city lights drift away. Cosy up by the warmth indoors, or brave the cold on the large terrace, where Brussels stretches out before you in a 180-degree panorama.
A taste of Switzerland
You can taste Switzerland here too. The menu is built around sharing dishes and cheeses from Les Fromages de Suisse, each one telling the story of its region. In the caquelon, Gruyère AOP and Vacherin Fribourgeois AOP melt together into a fondue moitié-moitié. FIGUGEGL, remember? It’s Swiss German for Fondue isch guet und git e gueti Luune, the famous slogan of the Swiss Cheese Union: fondue is delicious and puts you in a good mood.
Or let Raclette du Valais AOP flow warm over your plate, and have Vacherin Mont-d’Or AOP brought to the table in its little wooden box. In the mood for something crispy? Go for rösti with an Appenzeller® crust. Tête de Moine AOP joins the sharing board too, shaved into delicate rosettes. Bring friends, family or your sweetheart, and let the evening take its time, just like the cheese.
Wine from steep slopes
All that cheese calls for a good glass of wine, and Swiss Wine has that covered. Discover Chasselas and Petite Arvine from Valais, Pinot Noir from Schaffhausen and Neuchâtel, or a Merlot from Ticino. Each region brings its own character to the table, and you get to find the wine that suits each dish best.
Le Chalet d’Altitude welcomes you every day from 5 pm to 1 am. Drop by after work to warm up over a fondue, or simply raise a glass as the lights of Brussels flicker on one by one. This winter, VIAGE is once again the place in the heart of Brussels where you can play, taste and take in the city from above. The rest of your winter journey awaits you in Switzerland itself.
