A Jackpot in Sustainability

A Jackpot in Sustainability

Sustainability is no longer a side issue for businesses. It's a structural challenge that touches everything: from environmental impact to HR policy and corporate governance. But where do you start? And how do you make it concrete? That's precisely where ESGlogic comes in.

ESGlogic is a Belgian consultancy that supports companies throughout their entire sustainability journey. From an initial ESG diagnosis to a concrete roadmap with actions and measurable objectives. Their approach is deliberately pragmatic: complex ESG questions are distilled into clear priorities and achievable steps in day-to-day business operations.

As Camille Orban de Xivry, Operations Director, explains: "Companies often feel overwhelmed by ESG. ESGlogic's role is to sit down together, sharpen priorities and focus on where the greatest impact lies." CEO Santiago Torres puts it simply: "Sustainability has to be workable. Not theory, but a practical roadmap that helps businesses move forward."

Making sustainability tangible

ESG - environment, social and governance - is a broad and often overwhelming topic, one in which companies can quickly feel lost. That's why ESGlogic always starts from a clear picture of where the greatest impact lies. Which environmental challenges are most urgent, which social themes are at play internally, and how can governance be structured so that everyone is on board? That focus transforms ESG from an added burden into a lever for performance, risk management and brand reputation.

In 2024, VIAGE joined forces with them to make sustainability truly tangible. The collaboration began with a thorough baseline assessment. Together, they mapped the key environmental, social and governance challenges specific to a casino located in the heart of Brussels, with a wide impact zone spanning employees, visitors and partners. From this emerged a structured ESG action plan built around three pillars: environment, social and governance. As Santiago explains: together with VIAGE, ESGlogic worked on reducing the ecological footprint, strengthening the company culture for employees, and safeguarding a responsible entertainment model — one where enjoyment never tips over into addiction.

Straight from silver to platinum

The result today is an EcoVadis Platinum medal for the casino. A recognition reserved exclusively for the top 1% of companies assessed worldwide. EcoVadis is one of the world's leading platforms for corporate sustainability ratings. More than 130,000 companies have already been evaluated on the basis of 21 sustainability criteria across four themes: environment, labour and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement.

Following the very first audit, VIAGE started at Silver — top 15%. Rather than settling for that, VIAGE and ESGlogic shifted into a higher gear. Policies were tightened, objectives were given concrete KPIs and internal teams were more closely involved. It paid off: at the next assessment, VIAGE achieved a Platinum medal. That is exceptional. It speaks not only to outstanding results, but to an integrated sustainability strategy embedded in the very DNA of the organisation.

A concrete impact

Santiago points to something that struck him during the collaboration: "The people who work at VIAGE have been with the company for a long time. That creates engagement. And engagement is the engine of real change. We saw that reflected in the maturity assessments we carried out each year: every time a new baseline, every time adjustments based on what was most urgent."

Camille explains how ESGlogic deliberately chooses awareness over data collection: "We don't just want to gather numbers. We want to involve employees. Someone who works here takes that knowledge home with them. That expands the impact in an indirect but powerful way." Today, companies play a crucial role in society. A strong ESG score influences both the human and ecological impact — now and for future generations. Sustainability has by now become an essential part of modern business management. Regulations are becoming stricter, the expectations of clients and employees are rising, and organisations that fail to keep up will eventually lose their relevance.

What's next?

Camille emphasises that Platinum is not a destination, but a waypoint. It's recognition of a solid foundation, and at the same time an invitation to sustain that high level of ambition year after year. With each new evaluation, VIAGE and ESGlogic review the maturity of the ESG policy and recalibrate priorities accordingly. With its EcoVadis Platinum medal, VIAGE is not only a major player in the heart of the city, but also a role model for other casinos and tourist destinations looking to professionalise their ESG approach.

"VIAGE, un jackpot de durabilité." — Santiago Torres, Co-founder & CEO, ESGlogic

The VIAGE story is one of people who have long been on board and genuinely want to move forward. Of teams motivated by the 'gamified' nature of medals and certifications. Just like in the casino, the drive to achieve an ever-higher score is at work here too — only now it's about lower emissions, greater responsibility and a positive impact on the city and society at large.
