Get disco at VIAGE for New Year’s Eve

Do you remember the 70s? When bell-bottom pants were all the rage, hair was hooked on gel, and shoes didn't exist without platforms... In this flashy stylistic universe, there was sometimes room for questioning in terms of taste... but there was also and above all, plenty of happiness to go around! So, to reproduce exactly this flower power on some disco fever, VIAGE invites you to its "Back to the 70s" New Year's Eve party.

Funky outfit on the rise

Today, what mainly reminds us of the 60s and 70s is the counterculture, also called the anti-conformist movement. But what was it exactly? A youth that rejected all in all the rigid socio-political norms of the 50s and opposed to it their own ideology and own behaviors, all hooked into a so-called "hippie” mentality. The newly accessible travel options made this hungry youth cross borders and opened the doors to new fashion trends, coming from all over the globe. This gave rise to the characteristic creative and colourful mix of looks of the 70s. Beautiful Afghan jackets, floral-print dresses, swirling skirts, fringed suede jackets, and other clothing with international charm flooded Western shops. In wardrobes, colorful paisley shirts, bell-bottom jeans, and tie-dye clothing also made an appearance, stemming from a technique where knots are first randomly tied in a piece of clothing before being dyed... Certainly inspiring for your New Year's outfit at VIAGE!

Dance under the disco ball

And what about music? There is so much to say about the musical style that emerged in the 60s and 70s! While folk music dominated the USA, new artists such as Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, The Beatles, The Doors, and Jimi Hendrix took rock in a different direction and invited the public to new jubilations at overcrowded concerts. In the wake, the typical sound of ABBA conquered dance floors worldwide, at the same time as John Travolta made viewers dream in Saturday Night Fever, one of the flagship films of the late 70s. Feet loosen up, and new dance steps are born under the disco balls of nightclubs around the world.

Disco is music for dancing, and people will always want to dance. – Giorgio Moroder

All Night Long

You'll find this timeless universe at VIAGE on December 31, to celebrate going into the new year. From 9:30 pm and until 4 am, we invite you to come groove to a live DJ set. While you sip on bubbles, lots of bubbles, you’ll also be able to enjoy some live singing and dancing performances, including a roller dance show, typical of the 70s. Free for our members, this colourful evening also offers newcomers an entry for €20, which also includes a glass of bubbles and €10 worth of gaming chips.

But don’t forget to eat

Before you hit the dance floor, you'll need to fuel up! To that end, VIAGE offers, as every year, a 5-course gourmet menu served at VIAGE GRILL by our passionate chefs. And although the evening is anchored in the 70s, we wanted to offer you a more sophisticated menu than cheese fondue, typical of dinners at that time! That is why we invite you to savour a high-quality dinner featuring game, lobster, turbot, chestnuts, and chocolate, among other delicious things. For €130, treat yourself to this gourmet meal from 6:30 pm, before moving on to the dance floor!

Book today this New Year's meal and come attend the big disco party that will follow on December 31.

Note that reservations for the dinner are mandatory and can be made online via VIAGE.BE, no need to reserve for the party as long as you have your valid ID with you.

Looking forward to ringing in the New Year with you!
