At VIAGE we believe that sustainable growth only makes sense if people, communities and our planet are respected. Joining the United Nations Global Compact is therefore a logical step and a choice that reflects our values.
This commitment is not about recognition but about being part of a global community of millions of people and organisations joining forces to build a fairer, safer and more sustainable future. It dovetails perfectly with who we are and where we want to go, as an organisation that moves forward while taking responsibility.
Ten principles, one clear direction
The UN Global Compact rallies more than 15,000 companies and 3,800 non-commercial organisations from over 160 countries around ten universal principles. These companies are asked to align their operations with principles relating to human rights, labour conditions, environmental protection and the fight against corruption. As the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative, its ten principles provide a blueprint for organisations aiming to contribute to an inclusive and sustainable future.
By joining this initiative, we reaffirm our commitment to making responsible business central to everything we do. This is not a symbolic gesture but a concrete guide for action. For VIAGE these principles are not an afterthought but a natural foundation.
What we stand for — and act on
- Human rights - Everyone deserves dignity and respect. We make sure our activities help protect fundamental rights and never conflict with these values. At VIAGE we create an environment where diversity is welcomed and every voice is heard, regardless of background, origin or beliefs. Earlier this year we became the world’s first casino to receive the Queer Destinations Committed label, showing our concrete commitment to offering a safe, inclusive and welcoming space for the LGBTQIA+ community.
- Labour - Work should be safe, fair and dignified. We stand against all forms of discrimination, child labour and exploitation. VIAGE is a place where inclusion and equal opportunity are at the heart of what we do. Our people are the heart of VIAGE and we invest in their well-being, development and in a workplace that enables them to achieve their full potential.
- Environment - Our planet is vulnerable. That is why we focus on responsible choices, sustainable innovation and an ongoing effort to reduce our ecological impact. From saving energy to cutting waste, from sustainable sourcing to raising environmental awareness among our guests, every step counts in our journey towards a smaller environmental footprint. That is why on World Cleanup Day this year, on 19 September, the VIAGE team will once again roll up their sleeves to clean up litter in Brussels’ pedestrian zone. Together with local businesses on Brussels’ central boulevards, we help raise awareness about the impact of litter on the environment.
- Anti-corruption - Integrity is non-negotiable at VIAGE. We reject any form of corruption, both internally and in our relationships with partners and suppliers. Transparency is built into our policies and our culture. We act fairly, openly and responsibly in all our business relationships and decisions.
More than a place of entertainment
Joining the UN Global Compact is not a PR stunt for VIAGE but a conscious commitment. It reminds us that we are part of something bigger. We are a meeting place, an employer, a partner – and we take those roles seriously. Whether in policy, behaviour or choices on the work floor, we continue to build an organisation that wants to move forward, but never at the expense of others.
With this commitment, we join thousands of companies worldwide that are working for positive change. By joining the UN Global Compact, we show that hospitality and responsibility can go hand in hand. We are part of a movement that recognises that sustainable value only comes from delivering measurable impact on the world’s most pressing challenges. Not because we have to but because it is the right thing to do. VIAGE is ready to help make a difference, locally and globally. This is not the end point but the start of an ongoing journey in which we keep challenging ourselves to do better, for our guests, our people, our community and the world we all share.
