Studying in a Theatre
- Posted 08 May 2026

Anyone looking for a quiet place to study in Brussels during exam season knows how hard that can be. VIAGE has been addressing that need for several years now — and this year is no different.
In partnership with Brik, the go-to organisation for all students in Brussels, VIAGE is once again opening its theatre 'The Viage' as a study space. Brussels is a dense, busy city where quiet spots to study are hard to come by, especially during exam period. Public infrastructure simply can't keep up with demand — Brussels is home to more than 110,000 students — and that's precisely the gap VIAGE is stepping in to fill. During exam season, we deliberately choose not to programme any concerts in the theatre, so students can work without interruption. This choice reflects how we see our role in the city: not just as an entertainment venue, but as a place that responds to what Brussels actually needs.
A strong partnership, a growing success
Brik supports students on housing, wellbeing and study infrastructure, and coordinates a broad network of Study Spaces spread across the capital — dozens of locations in total. Since 2024, VIAGE has been a permanent and highly valued fixture in that network. A quiet, comfortable space where you can study until 10 pm, long after libraries and public buildings have closed their doors — that's not something you find just anywhere.
This year, Theatre The Viage is open from 14 May to 10 June, every day from 10:00 to 22:00. Fifty study places are available.
Two years, two records
VIAGE joined the network for the first time in 2024. Over 32 open days, 638 students visited, accounting for 2,015 check-ins and an average occupancy rate of 90%. That made VIAGE the second most visited Study Space in the whole of Brussels, right out of the gate.
The following year, 410 unique students registered, totalling 1,398 check-ins — an average of 58 per day. Occupancy climbed to 117%, making VIAGE the most visited Study Space across all 34 locations in Brussels. That same year, the entire network offered 927 study places and recorded 7,500 check-ins in total. VIAGE came out on top. In other words: students found their way to VIAGE — and they keep coming back. And perhaps these are the students who will one day help shape the future of our city.
Everything you need
VIAGE is open seven days a week, from 10:00 to 22:00. Whether you like to get started early or prefer working into the evening, this is the place for you. The location speaks for itself. VIAGE is situated on Boulevard Anspach, within walking distance of De Brouckère, the Bourse, the Grand Place and Brussels Central station. Easy to reach by public transport, on foot or by bike. Those arriving by car will find several car parks nearby.
Thanks to the partnership with Brik, our study space is equipped with comfortable tables and chairs, along with plenty of power sockets, a fast Wi-Fi connection, pleasant lighting and bathroom facilities. Free coffee and tea are available in the smoking lounge at the back — because you can't be at full stretch all the time. Volunteers are on hand to uphold the house rules, so everyone can work in peace. And as part of a reputable casino, you also benefit from professional security at the door.
